For the best Headmaster Besselsleigh had,
I should have returned and thanked you in person, but I didn't take the time.
I should have written to say I thank you, but the timing never seemed right.
Now by pure chance, after typing "Besselsleigh School" into Twitter, just to see what would come up,
I find out I'm too late for those thank you's you deserved, and the many more besides,
With a tear and a guilty heart I'll leave such a tiny tribute,
To a man that made me ME Mr Caulfield, you were a Headmaster, a gentleman, a second father,
I will never forget your caring smile.
