Following graduation from Hull University, Alan attended Carnegie College in Leeds to gain his teaching qualifications and to start his long and distinguished teaching career spanning over 30 years, moving from PE teacher through the ranks to ultimately be Headmaster, a career path proudly mirrored by his youngest son, Nick decades later.
