Retirement, Prostate & Parkinson's

1994 - 2016

Created by Andy 7 years ago
Mum and Dad spent the first few months of their retirement from the summer of 1994 living a nomadic existence.

They split their time between coastal holidays in their caravan, visiting relatives in Yorkshire from their flat- base in Leeds, and Tenerife breaks.

They were persuaded to move to Woking to help look after their first grandchildren, as Jack the eldest had been born in September 1993 and the twins, Robbie and Pete were on their way (born prematurely April 1995).

Alan and Diana moved to Woking in December 1994 and have been here ever since to help with grandchildren - Harry came along in November 1999, followed by Leila in August 2004, Grace in May 2007 and Oscar in March 2010.

Dad survived the discovery of prostate cancer in 2002 after surgery. Sadly in 2003 he was then diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, and although he maintained his typically active lifestyle for a number of years, by the time he turned 70 his illness was starting to change him. His final years saw a long, slow decline.
He is now at peace and reunited with Chris. Rest In Peace.
